orn in France, Grégoire Ganter was 10 years old when his family moved to New York. He studied International Relations at Kenyon College and received an MBA from New York University before turning his full attention to his true passion, photography.

Living in New York, Grégoire finds most of his inspiration from the city’s vibrant energy and its ever-changing architecture. He uses photographic collage to dissect a scene, piece by piece. He then assembles the individual images back to form a new, often surreal composition. The collage gives the view the choice to either focus on each photographic cell or to look at the subject in totality, offering a different view every time.

Grégoire’s Original Collages are created by manually assembling individual pictures. The result is a one of a kind composition, which can include an unlimited amount of layers. He has recently experimented with the digital medium and now produces the majority of his work in the form of Digital C-Prints. These images remain collages but are reproduced using the digital darkroom and are printed on a single piece of gallery quality photographic paper. This process gives Grégoire added flexibility and creativity. Most of these images can be printed as large as 50 inches long. Grégoire prints his architectural Digital C-Prints in editions of 25.

The birth of his first daughter in May of 2003 inspired to look for original decoration for her surroundings. The culmination of this process resulted in the creation of a collection of photographic collages geared towards decoration and education for children of all ages. The Alphabets are printed as digital C-Prints and can be printed as large as 50 inches wide. They are printed in editions of 100.

Grégoire currently lives in New York with his wife and 2 daughters, Léa and Capucine.
